OUR mission

To exceed society's safety health and environmental protection expectations.

The New Zealand Chemical Industry Council (NZCIC) is a 'not for profit' industry association responsible for implementing and promoting Responsible Care™, the international safety, health and environmental (SH&E) protection initiative practised by the chemical industry in more than 45 countries worldwide.

Our activities focus on helping employers comply with New Zealand's demanding workplace safety and environmental protection legislation.

We assist employers to develop and implement sound SH&E management practices which demonstrate their commitment to protecting employees, the community and our environment.

A key role is to helping to develop the legislation, national performance standards and environmental reporting criteria which has positioned the NZCIC as a centre of technical excellence for SH&E performance.

The Council has unrivalled expertise in the safe management of hazardous substances.
