Introduction
As we prepare to enjoy Christmas with family and friends, we reflect on the accomplishments of the past year. During a time of rapid change, Responsible Careä continues to influence our business and community relationships, adapting to the ever-changing ‘seasons’ of public opinion, global trends and community expectations.
The essence of the international Responsible Careä initiative is to meet or exceed community expectations regarding safety, health and environmental (SH&E) protection. Responsible Careä fosters the process of ‘continuous improvement’, recognising and responding effectively to community concerns about product safety by encouraging product stewardship. This can, of course, take many forms and it’s pleasing to report at the end of another busy year, how two Responsible Careä companies are demonstrating their continuing commitment to this worthy objective.
Methanex New Zealand was a Business Ethics Section finalist in this year’s Deloitte Management Top 200 Companies Awards. A wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian parent Methanex Corporation, the company was cited for its leadership in clearly articulating and implementing an effective environmental protection policy.
