Inaugural Responsible Care™ Award

More than 50 industry chief executives gathered in Auckland last week to honour Life Member Fred Holland, who recently stepped down as the Managing Director of Nuplex Industries.

Several former colleagues saw Fred receive the first Responsible Care™ Achievement Award, introduced to acknowledge Fred’s invaluable contribution to the industry. As Co-founder of the NZCIC and the first President, Fred helped mobilise nearly 80 fellow chemical industry executives to establish the Council in 1985, followed by the introduction of Responsible Care™ in 1991.

Presenting the award, Council President Wayne Koedyk noted that many people approached him during his international travels, enquiring after Fred and recounting their particular association with the ‘God Father’ of the New Zealand chemical industry.
