Annual Conference Edition
"The PRINCE© Accreditation scheme is a high-level audit of safety, health and environmental performance and any company which receives a PRINCE© Certificate is operating at the Excellent end of the spectrum.
PRINCE© is a performance-based system which means we can have greater confidence it really works. It is the difference between a company with a big, shiny manual which looks great but stays on the shelf, and one that actually carries out what it says it will. We all know that can be a big difference.
This year there were 17 Certificates presented - the largest number yet. That is a very positive trend and a cause for pride. The chemical industry has shown great leadership on this and the Members are recognising the importance of that work".
Opening last
week's 2003 Conference, the Minister of Labour Margaret Wilson complimented
the Council for establishing the CHEMCALL© Emergency Advisory Service used
by OSH and our proactive initiatives to facilitate the smooth implementation
of the Hazardous Substances (HS) Regulations.
A record 125 Members and their guests enjoyed thought-provoking presentations on issues as diverse as the state of the Economy, implementing the Hazardous Substances legislation and new performance objectives for the Ministry for the Environment, plus case studies examining how Members are preparing for "Life under
HSNO" and how to survive a PRINCE© Assessment! The NZ Police presentation
and display about the illicit diversion of chemicals to manufacturing illegal
designer drugs attracted considerable attention, particularly from importers,
many of whom undertook to review security arrangements in accordance with the
NZCIC/NZ Police Memorandum of Understanding.
